Apply for a Temporary Resident Parking Permit

We can provide a temporary permit for two reasons that are outlined below:

  •      Change of vehicle
  •      Your vehicle is off the road for a mechanical or repair reason.

We do not provide this type of permit if your current permit has expired or you are just moving into a new property.

The proofs used must contain the registration number of the vehicle along with your name and address.

Change of Vehicle

You are in the process of changing your vehicle.

Please note that these are valid for a maximum of 14 days and they cannot be renewed or extended.

You will also need to apply for a Change of vehicle / Amend resident permit.

You will need to return your current resident permit before the expiry of the temporary permit and before the new permit can be issued.

Supporting evidence required

We will need at least one of the following types of evidence to provide the permit:

  • Copy of a lease agreement
  • Insurance certificate
  • Sales Invoice from the garage or seller
  • Company letter confirming you are the sole driver of the vehicle.

Vehicle Off - Road

Your vehicle is off the road due to mechanical failure, damage or scheduled maintenance, and you are using a hire vehicle.

These are valid for a Maximum of 28 Days (extension will only be considered on receipt from the repairer with a reason for the delay).

Supporting evidence required

We will need at least one of the following types of evidence to provide the permit:

  • Copy of the hire vehicle document - this should state the reason for the hire.
  • Letter / Job schedule from the garage stating the reason why the vehicle is off-road.
  • An insurance certificate.
  • Letter / e-mail from the insurance company stating that works are to take place.

Pilot Scheme

The RBWM is currently changing its Resident Permit System to a Virtual Permit System – as currently used for Season Ticket Holders.  We are changing the system for Resident Permits / Visitor Vouchers / Visitor Permits / Resident Carer Permits and Temporary Permits for a small number of Zones:

  • L : Eton
  • M : Maidenhead
  • SF : Springfield Road – Windsor

If you are a resident of one of these Zones from Wednesday 24 April 2024, you will need to apply for / renew your permits using the following link:

New Car

All Zones will eventually change to this new system within the next few weeks.

If an application is received using the current system, we will set up the account on your behalf and you will receive an e-mail to complete the account set up.

Process

We aim to process these requests within two working days of the request.

The permit will be sent in the form of a PDF by e-mail. The permit should be printed off and displayed in the vehicle.

Parking should not commence until a valid permit is clearly displayed in the windscreen of the vehicle. You are expected to find alternative parking or use any of your Visitor Vouchers until your permit arrives.

Please note that failure to provide the correct documentation will mean that the permit cannot be issued.
