Fit for Life - Introduction

What is Fit for Life?

The Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead's (RBWM) three year Fit for Life project is set to help more local people get into sport thanks to £146,888 of National Lottery Funding from Sport England's Community Sport Activation Fund to support a £233,424 project over three years.

RBWM is among 36 projects to receive a share of £5.9 million of funding to support grassroots sports activity across the Country.

Who is the Fit for Life project for?

The project is aimed at 14+ to adults and families. It includes a range of sports/activities to encourage residents to try different activities and find sports/activities they want to continue on a weekly basis. As part of the project there will be opportunities for volunteers and sports leaders to get involved and support the various sports opportunities.

What Sport England says about Fit for Life project.

Mike Diaper, Sport England Director of Community Sport said: "It's great to be working with innovative projects like Fit for Life to offer people the chance to get into sport in a way that best suits them."The investment being made through the community sport activation fund is making a real difference at a very local level".

Fit for Life Promotions

Beginners Triathlon Taster Session - Saturday 4 July

Inspired by competitors who took part in Windsor Triathlon? Want to get involved with one of the fastest-growing sports in the UK? The Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead sports development team , in partnership with Berkshire Tri Squad and Legacy Leisure, is running a beginners triathlon taster session on Saturday 4 July, so why not come along and give it a try. The taster session is aimed at individuals who are 16+ years old - adults. The taster session will give you the opportunity to gain experience in all three disciplines - swimming, cycling and running - with advice from qualified coaches. It is ideal for those new to triathlon or who already train in one or two of the disciplines. You will also be able to talk to knowledgeable local triathletes to find out about triathlon clubs and events taking place in the local area over a tea or coffee. Session details

  • Time: 1:30pm-3:30pm
  • Location: Windsor Leisure Centre, Stovell Road, Windsor, SL4 5JB
  • Cost: £5
  • What to bring: • Swimming costume/shorts (indoor swimming) • Towel • Trainers suitable for running and cycling • Suitable clothing for running and cycling • Note: you do NOT need to bring a bike, as the cycling will take place on a stationary spin bike
