Who are childrens services?
Services provided to children are diverse and include education, health care, social care, youth services, sport and leisure services. However, despite being varied, these services are working together to provide one service for every child, enabling children to stay safe, be healthy, enjoy and achieve, make a positive contribution and achieve economic well being. Some of the many roles working for children and young people, either directly or indirectly, are outlined in Emma and Dean's story.
What does a career in childrens services look like?
There are many ways into working for children and young people and many career pathways that can be taken throughout. Qualifications, skills and knowledge overlap across children services making the opportunity to move between services all the more easier. Why work in the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead?
The Royal Borough is conveniently situated on main line rail links to London as well as being close to Heathrow Airport. We attract many tourists through out the year with attractions like Windsor Castle, Legoland and Ascot Racecourse in the area. The borough has a population of approximately 130, 000 people, of which 35, 000 are children aged 0 to 18. We recognise the need to continually support the development of all employees and volunteers who work for children in the borough and aim to offer career opportunities that stretch across the whole of children services.
