This section of the website is for Councillors contributing to the Local Government Pension Scheme within the Berkshire area.
Highlights of the benefits provided by the LGPS are:

a tax-free lump sum when you retire

a pension based on your career average pay

retirement from age 50 with your authority's consent

an ill-health pension from any age

a death in service lump sum of two times career average pay

a dependants pension payable to your widow, widower or civil partner

Each Council has to take a decision as to whether or not it will allow it's Councillor's access to the LGPS. If you would like to become a member of the Councillors Pension Scheme you should first check with your Council to find out whether or not you are eligible.

Pension Panel Election Results
In our Spring 2009 edition of the Quill we invited our members to nominate themselves for a position on the Berkshire Pension Fund Advisory Panel. There were two vacancies for panel representation - one active and one retired or deferred Scheme member. Votes have now been cast and we are pleased to confirm the elected members below:
